How To Fill Henna Cones

The basic tools need to fill henna cones are:

  • Carrot bag(s)
  • Tape
  • Empty Cones
  • Scissors
  • Paper Towel (to clean up drips)

First we start by putting our fresh henna paste into a carrot bag. We have found that the easiest and cleanest way to do this is to put the empty carrot bag into a tall drinking glass and fold the top over the edge of the glass. Now you have an upright holder for you carrot bag. Using a spatula, slowly and carefully transfer your paste from bowl to bag. When you have everything in the carrot bag, pick it up by the part folded over the top of the glass and either twist and rubber band the top, or roll it over and tape it down.

Once you have your carrot bag ready be sure you have enough empty rolled cones ready to be filled. There are two ways to set up your cones for filling. You can hold each cone in one hand and fill with the other or you can use that same drinking glass and put 4 or 5 in it at a time and fill them one after another. Cut a hole at the bottom of your carrot bag (donít make it too big or too small. About ľ inch is about right). Gently squeeze henna into each cone, being careful to fill it only 2/3 of the way full.

When all of your cones are filled, fold in the sides of the top of the cone and then roll down the top until you have pushed all of the henna to the tip of the cone. Tape well.
